How can you avoid this problem?

The solution for this problem is really simple, “effective communication”. As mentioned above in order for a web design project to be successful, there must be great communication from both parties. You as the client must clearly mention to the designers how you need your website to look. We know, we know, you must be thinking “well, they are the designers, not me, they should be able to design a website that wows me”. And yes, this statement is true to a certain extent. Although a designer’s job is to design a website that wow you, they are not mind readers, if you have a vision of how you want your website to look, you should clearly mention that to the designer.
